Building Stronger Communities, One Village at a Time.
Since 2010, Community Fund Uganda has partnered with over 8,700 families across Northern and Eastern Uganda. Through Village Microfinance Circles, deep borehole clean water wells, girls' education scholarships, and agricultural cooperative training, we transform entire communities from the ground up. Our locally-led model ensures that 88 cents of every dollar reaches the field, with repayment rates exceeding 97 percent across all districts.
Lacor Village Water & Microfinance Hub
Our flagship integrated development project combines a 60-meter deep borehole well, a women-led microfinance circle of 22 members, and agricultural cooperative training. Launched in 2022, the Lacor Hub has already improved clean water access for 480 households and disbursed over 38 million UGX in productive microloans with a 98.6 percent repayment rate. Community maize yields increased by 47 percent in the first growing season.

Six Integrated Pathways to Community Empowerment
Every program reinforces the others. Microfinance fuels agricultural productivity. Clean water improves school attendance. Education opens new economic pathways. Together, they create lasting systemic change in rural Ugandan communities.
Village Microfinance Circles
Community-managed savings and lending groups of 15 to 25 members providing accessible capital for productive investment, with group co-guarantee models achieving repayment rates above 97 percent.
Clean Water Infrastructure
Deep borehole wells and protected spring installations providing certified safe drinking water. Each well serves 300 to 500 people, with community-maintained hand pump systems ensuring long-term sustainability.
Girls' Education Scholarships
Full and partial scholarships covering tuition, uniforms, school supplies, and menstrual health kits for girls in secondary and vocational programs, with mentorship from local female professionals.
Agricultural Cooperative Training
Hands-on training in sustainable farming techniques, cooperative formation, market access, and value-chain development. Participants learn improved seed selection, soil management, and post-harvest storage.
Community Health Clinics
Mobile health outreach providing maternal care, immunization, malaria prevention, and nutrition counseling. Our community health workers are trained locals who bridge the gap between villages and regional hospitals.
Women's Entrepreneurship
Intensive 12-week business accelerator for women entrepreneurs covering business planning, financial literacy, market research, and digital payment adoption, with seed grants for top participants.

"I visited the Gulu field office during a donor trip in 2023 and was genuinely moved by the professionalism of the local team. The microfinance circles are real, the wells are functional, and the women leading these groups are extraordinary. This is one of the most efficient nonprofits I've ever supported, and their GuideStar Platinum rating is well-earned."
"Our church has been partnering with CFU for five years, and the impact reports they provide quarterly are the most detailed and honest we have seen from any organization. We sponsored a clean water well in Mbale and received GPS coordinates, water quality testing results, and photos of the community celebration. That level of accountability is rare and deeply appreciated."
"As a monthly donor, I appreciate that CFU keeps overhead below 12 percent and that Grace and her team provide regular email updates from the field. Knowing that my $50 monthly contribution directly funds clean water access for a Ugandan family gives me profound confidence that my giving is meaningful and measurable."
